Position Summary

Provides quality care and services to patients by assisting dentists and other staff in a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties. Maintain efficient and productive patient flow through timely, accurate and professional preparation of patients and patient information, including taking and processing x-rays.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient care
  • Provide necessary dental services to patients of Palms Medical Group within his / her scope of practice in accordance with stated policies, procedures and protocols of PMG.
  • Review the patient's health history, dental chart and oral history.
  • Set up instrument tray, prepare dental materials and assist the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Assist the dentist during dental emergencies.
  • Record dental treatment information into the patient's dental chart.
  • Communicate postoperative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
  • Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
  • Responsible for inventory management
  • Inventory and submit all order requests via appropriate channels.
  • Clean, disinfect and sterilize dental instrumentation.
  • Clean, organize and maintain professional work areas.
  • Responsible for administrative duties
  • Record and review patient medical histories.
  • Assist with audits and surveys.
  • Perform any other duty assigned to improve the efficiency of PMG.

  • Employee shall be able to read and interpret written dental instructions
  • Employee will know how to process radiographs
  • Employee will know how to expose dental radiographs
  • Employee will know how to efficiently operate NextGen
  • Employee will be expected to navigate and operate Microsoft Office suite products, including Word and Excel
  • Licenses & Certifications :

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited Dental Assistant program with Expanded Functions
  • Current BLS (basic life support) Certification
  • Physical / Mental / Emotional Demands :

  • Standing for long periods of time
