Senior Property Accountant – Commercial Real Estate (Hybrid, Houston)
Are you an experienced property accountant looking to join a collaborative, people-first team in commercial real estate? Our client is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support a portfolio of commercial properties for a highly respected, award-winning firm known for its outstanding culture, low turnover, and excellent benefits.
Primary responsibilities of the Senior Property Accountant role include :
Oversee full-cycle accounting for assigned commercial properties, including monthly financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Prepare and review tenant billings, cash receipts, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
Collaborate closely with property management to ensure timely and accurate reporting, budgeting, and escalation settlements.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, supporting schedules, and balance sheets.
Ensure compliance with management agreements, internal controls, and accounting standards.
Assist with annual CAM and tax reconciliations, owner distributions, and audit requests.
Utilize real estate accounting software (MRI, Yardi, or similar) for all property accounting functions.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, property managers, owners, and external partners.
Primary qualifications include :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
5+ years of recent property accounting experience in a commercial real estate environment.
Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual / cash accounting, and property management financials.
Proficiency with real estate accounting software (MRI, Yardi, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
Detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality service.

Pay Details : $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
