Summary

As an Emergency Medical Technician, you will be an emergency response medical professional responsible for delivering immediate medical care to victims of accidents, violence, and sudden medical conditions such as cardiac arrests or strokes. You will provide pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support from the moment of contact until the patient care is transitioned to the receiving medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at public events and provide standby services as needed.
• Document assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Caring for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises through medical and therapeutic services.
• Work as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate advanced life support equipment such as defibrillators and electrocardiograms.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illness to establish medical intervention priorities.
• Respond to dispatcher instructions and safely drive emergency vehicles to specified locations.
• Administer medications via injection or intravenous procedures under physician supervision.
• Communicate with medical personnel at emergency facilities to discuss treatment plans.
• Perform cleaning and decontamination of the ambulance after treating patients with infectious diseases, reporting any infectious cases as required.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs short distances. The role requires frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
