Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a Clinical Director to lead and oversee all clinical operations at a licensed behavioral health outpatient facility offering PHP and IOP levels of care. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based treatment in alignment with regulatory standards and organizational values. The Clinical Director will manage clinical staff, support program development, and serve as a key liaison between leadership and the care team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of clinical and non-clinical functions within the PHP and IOP programs
  • Ensure treatment planning, documentation, and care delivery meet licensing, accreditation, and payer standards
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings, clinical supervision, and case reviews
  • Support implementation and monitoring of evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing)
  • Monitor client progress and outcomes to ensure effective, client-centered care
  • Collaborate with administrative and medical leadership to ensure continuity of care and program effectiveness
  • Respond to audits, incident reports, and regulatory inquiries as needed
  • Evaluate and refine program policies, procedures, and workflows to improve clinical efficiency
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and performance management of clinical staff
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels to support client admissions
  • Foster a safe, therapeutic, and ethical environment for both staff and clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications-

Education :

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
  • Licensure :

  • Active clinical license in Virginia (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD)
  • Supervisory credential preferred
  • Experience :

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in mental health or substance use treatment
  • At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a behavioral health or PHP setting
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria, DSM-5, trauma-informed care, and integrated co-occurring treatment
  • Skills :

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage clinical teams and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Joint Commission, and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and documentation compliance
