Job Details : \n

  • Work 12-hour shifts at 7 : 00 AM or 7 : 00 PM

    • \n

  • Night shifts with every other weekend requirement

    • \n

  • Holiday requirement : 2 out of 3 holidays

    • \n

  • Patient ratios : 1 nurse to 2 patients

    • \n

  • 8-bed PICU unit with average census of 2 patients

    • \n

  • Required certifications : BLS and PALS

    • \n

  • Minimum 2 years PICU experience required

    • \n

  • No first-time travelers accepted

    • \n

  • Dress code : Navy blue scrubs

    • \n

  • Use Cerner EMR system and Medfusion pumps

    • \n

  • Work with Spacelab tele monitors - nurses must read own strips

    • \n

  • Manage ventilators and various respiratory equipment

    • \n

  • Float to general pediatrics, burn unit for non-burn pediatric care, and NICU (voluntary)

    • \n

  • Travelers are first to float when census is low

    • \n

  • May be placed on standby if census is low

    • \n

  • Rarely serve as charge nurse

    • \n

  • No nurse aides available

    • \n

  • Floor-specific orientation : 2 PICU shifts, 1 pediatrics shift, 1 burn unit shift

    • \n

  • Treat patients with respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, overdoses, poisoning, and diabetic ketoacidosis

    • \n

  • Manage titratable drips including insulin, sedatives, heparin, and electrolyte replacements

    • \n\n

    This healthcare facility features an 8-bed pediatric intensive care unit with 24 / 7 pediatric hospitalist intensivist coverage and comprehensive support services. The facility maintains respiratory therapy services around the clock, 24 / 7 pharmacy support, and specialized equipment for critical pediatric care. The organization provides a full spectrum of pediatric services including general pediatrics, burn care, and NICU services, ensuring comprehensive care for critically ill children.
