Job Summary :
The Clinical Dietitian / Diabetes Educator provides expert nutrition assessment, education, counseling, and care coordination for patients with endocrine disorders such as diabetes, growth disorders, and other metabolic conditions. This role involves administering diabetes education, including medication management, self-monitoring, and lifestyle changes; planning and developing individualized medical nutrition therapy; collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, supporting patient and family education, and participating in quality improvement and community outreach initiatives to promote optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for pediatric patients at nutritional risk, including those with endocrine disorders like diabetes and growth issues.
- Provide personalized nutrition counseling and develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans for pediatric patients with endocrine conditions.
- Assess educational needs, evaluate patient and family understanding, and modify teaching approaches as necessary.
- Collaborate with community organizations and schools to promote health and nutrition awareness.
- Support research and quality initiatives related to pediatric endocrine nutrition care.
Qualifications :
Certification as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist from CBDCERegistered Dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the ADA, bachelor's degree with a major course of study in human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food management.Knowledge of pediatric endocrine disorders, diabetes management, and relevant clinical guidelines.Experience in pediatric endocrinology is preferred.Current Florida licensed dietitian status with the Dietetics and Nutrition Practice CouncilBLS certificationBenefits :
