Salary Range : $23.92 – $30.00 per hour

Position Summary

BuzzClan, on behalf of our healthcare client, is seeking a Medical Assistant (PACE) to support daily clinical operations within the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) . The ideal candidate will have hands-on clinical experience, strong organizational skills, and a compassionate approach to serving frail and elderly participants. This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate data collection, and seamless coordination with medical providers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Support (95%)

  • Participate in a mission-driven culture focused on performance, dignity, and accountability.
  • Assist in carrying out department responsibilities and support short- and long-term goals.
  • Collect and document accurate preliminary data for each participant visit, including vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, respirations), allergies, medications, pain scale, and symptoms.
  • Assist medical providers / primary care providers (PCPs) with clinical procedures and carry out provider orders such as :
  • Glucometer and urine dip testing
  • Administration of purified protein derivative (PPD) and tuberculosis tests
  • Audio testing
  • Setup and assistance for minor procedures (e.g., pelvic exams)
  • Phlebotomy draws, EKGs, ear lavage, and injections
  • Schedule follow-up or routine appointments and follow up on missed visits.
  • Maintain accurate and timely charting of participant information, procedures, and medications administered.
  • Record and report participant symptoms, reactions, and progress to the medical provider.
  • Assist with maintaining and restocking clinic supplies and equipment.
  • Support front office operations : answer phones, communicate with internal departments, and room participants for specialty appointments.

Other Duties (5%)

  • Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or department leadership.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience : At least 3 years of work experience, including a minimum of 1 year working with frail or elderly populations.
  • Certification : CPR and First-Aid Certification required (or must be obtained within six months of hire).
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of this role may also be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience (within the last 3 years) in a medical office or hospital setting.
  • Bilingual in English and one of CalOptima Health's threshold languages : Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, or Vietnamese.
  • Required Licensure / Certifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to establish effective relationships with leadership, staff, and patients.
  • Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and relevant healthcare software.
  • Commitment to professionalism, quality service, and patient-centered care.

  • Ability to read from computer screens and printed materials.
  • Clear verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, bending, and moving patients or equipment (10–25 lbs).
  • Flexibility to perform frequent walking, kneeling, and sitting as part of daily duties.
  • Work Environment

    PACE Setting :

  • Indoor clinical setting serving frail and elderly individuals.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels; potential exposure to clinical or hazardous conditions.
  • Office Setting :

  • Indoor environment with moderate noise; sedentary work with variable hours.
  • Community Setting (Occasional) :

  • May require travel and occasional outdoor work; moderate to loud noise levels possible.
