Position : City Attorney (Legal Services)
Requires an Undergraduate Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school , with seven (7) years of experience in civil or administrative law . Preference for candidates with substantial experience in labor and employment law, construction law, or real property law
Must be admitted to practice law in Florida and be a member of the Florida Bar . Additionally, must obtain admission to practice before the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, and U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, 11
th
Circuit within six months of hire. A valid Florida Driver's License and an acceptable driving record are required.
Preferred candidates will be Board Certified
Non-essential employees are not required to work during declared emergencies but may be required to work during undeclared emergencies or post-event scenarios, as determined by the Department Head.
Job Overview : Provide legal services to the City, including advising the City Council, City Manager, and Department Heads, serving as Acting City Attorney, researching legal issues, preparing legal documents, representing the City in lawsuits, and supervising staff as needed. Also may provide training on Sunshine Law and Public Records Act.
