Landscape Crew Member
The City of Roanoke is seeking a team member of the Landscape crew of the Transportation Division to perform skilled work in the maintenance of rights-of-way and in the operation of Ventrac and other commercial mowing equipment. Makes repairs and renovations to city right-of-ways and corridors including mowing, mulching, aeration, grading, seeding, and sodding. Services and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment. Operates heavy and light equipment in snow removal and assists with special events, and other emergency tasks, including some nights and weekends, as needed. Operates truck, including automatic and manual transmission. Maintains accurate log sheets, checklists, and pre-trip sheets. Certifications for Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator and Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement are required within 12 months of hire. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to three years related experience and / or training in trades area assigned; or equivalent combination of education and experience. May be required to obtain a Registered Technician Pesticide License and a Fertilizer Applicator Certification within 12 months.
