This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule from the Des Moines, IA metro.
Essential Functions :
- Completes coding in the legacy claims system, including C-file coding, detail coding, monitoring provisional lists and ensuring successful month end closeout and error reports.
- Processes corrections to claims to ensure all data elements are accurate. Answers coding help desk phone calls from claims team members.
- Completes CER coding and performs exposure reviews in Claims Center and facilitates system corrections through collaboration with claims staff.
- Prepares reporting and billing for ceded reinsurance. Monitors reinsurance reports to ensure accurate information is recorded and troubleshoots system issues.
- Processes payment corrections and initiates and approves the abandoned property process.
- Prepares fraudulent item affidavits as requested by the claims team and responds to financial institution inquiries regarding claim checks.
- Issues payments to vendors and maintains vendor information within the Claims systems.
- Reviews, approves, and issues various bulk vendor payments. Maintains and updates signature authority cards.
- Distributes checks for special handling. Fields questions from claims team and assists them with other tasks or issues that arise.
- Tracks and completes storm occurrences and CAT maintenance.
- Uploads occurrence information from Property & Liability Resource Bureau and enters CAT information from ISO to maintain tables of storm data and EMC's exposures.
Education & Experience :
Associate degree, preferably in insurance, finance, accounting, business administration or related field or equivalent relevant experienceTwo years of claims data reporting or related experienceInsurance industry coursework (e.g. INS, AIC, CPCU) preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Basic knowledge of insurance policies and claims philosophy, procedures, and terminologyGood research and analytical skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work effectively in a team, as well as independentlyThe hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following : $45,942 - $63,324 or $50,657 - $69,820. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
