Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements :

The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of successful sales experience dealing with decision-making executives;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in goal-oriented sales with increasing revenue;
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills;
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively;
  • High level of interpersonal skills;
  • Business computer skills and online knowledge;
  • Self-starter to include a professional appearance and attitude;
  • Creative and detailed results-oriented;
  • Ability to perform independently as well as participate as a member of a team with a public service mission;
  • Familiarity with media audience ratings tools;
  • Possess a passion for public media;
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • The following is preferred :
  • Knowledge of non-commercial radio underwriting requirements and public, non-commercial or commercial broadcast sales or non-profit fundraising.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities :

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :

  • Build station revenue by selling on-air and online underwriting and events to businesses or non-profit organizations;
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations and prospect for new clients;
  • Build long-term associations and provide a high quality of customer service;
  • Write copy and record spots as needed;
  • Enter agreements into traffic system.
  • Specific Duties and Responsibilities :

    The primary duty of the Underwriting Account Executive is to sell underwriting to businesses and non-profit clients to provide income to IRSC Public Media.

    The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :

  • Achieve or exceed annual and periodic sales goals;
  • Prospect and evaluate potential clients or agencies;
  • Contact potential clients as appropriate and provide sales information;
  • Close sales with contracts;
  • Write and edit copy for approval;
  • Complete agreements and enter into underwriting software for airplay;
  • Follow up with clients to determine satisfaction;
  • Maintain knowledge of inventory and current regulations and legal standards regarding underwriting;
  • Increase revenue and meet and document measurable goals;
  • Participate in station outreach activities;
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Physical Requirements

    This position requires an ability to speak clearly, sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate audio recording devices and standard office machines, such as, computers, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary, as well as drive vehicles. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
