Purpose :

The Center for Employment Training (CET) Skill Instructor is a year-round, full-time position that incorporates teaching, curriculum development, reality counseling, advising, group facilitation, and committee work in our post-secondary job training program for adults and young adults looking to enter or advance in the workforce. The Instructor will teach all Health Technology Administration curriculum (exploring healthcare industry, medical terminology, healthcare legislation, healthcare payers, procedure codes, diagnosis codes, electronic medical records, medical billing and coding, revenue cycles, etc.) to prepare trainees for industry certification as well as reinforce basic adult education, success skills and employment basics.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement quality lesson plans that deliver material to students of varying levels of experience and learning styles.
  • Create interactive, collaborative and experiential learning projects and support an inclusive and engaging, professional classroom atmosphere.
  • Supervise and guide trainees in a modeled workplace environment which sets the expectations of professionalism in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop curricula and syllabi, grade assignments, formulate individual work plans for trainees and make suggestions for improvements as appropriate.
  • Participate in weekly unit team meetings with team members, action teams, monthly staff meetings, and individual trainee meetings as necessary, as well as other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Successful candidates will be strong team players who can also work independently and adapt to fast-paced and changing environment. Must demonstrate the desire to create a hands-on, interactive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are a must.
  • 3-5 years of applicable administrative healthcare experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as electronic medical records system knowledge is preferred.
  • Hold, or be willing to earn, industry standard certifications (Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to different worksites within the region on a daily basis.

  • This is an Exempt position with a salary range of $37,000 - $41,000.
