The Opportunity
The Pump Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operations within the pump repair and assembly department. This includes managing daily production activities, supervising pump mechanics, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and coordinating workflow with engineering, quality, and project management teams. This position requires a hands-on leader with deep technical knowledge of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, precision repair practices, and proven experience driving operational excellence in a turbomachinery service environment. The Pump Shop Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining Fox Innovation’s reputation for delivering OEM-level quality, reliability, and turnaround performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and mentor pump shop personnel in disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of pumps and pump components.
- Plan and allocate daily work assignments to ensure labor and equipment utilization align with project schedules and customer priorities.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability; ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Supervise repair and overhaul of various pump types, including multistage, vertical, horizontal, and API process pumps.
- Review inspection reports, engineering drawings, and OEM specifications to ensure repairs meet quality and performance standards.
- Oversee precision measurement, tolerances, and documentation of critical fits, clearances, and concentricity.
- Coordinate with the machine shop on machining, welding, and balancing requirements associated with pump repairs.
- Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Project Management to ensure jobs are executed per scope, schedule, and cost targets.
- Track and report on job progress, cost performance, and turnaround times using established job travelers and work orders.
- Participate in customer inspections, job reviews, and post-repair test runs as required.
- Maintain shop organization and readiness consistent with lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching and discipline as needed, and support career development initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality, efficiency, and safety across all pump repair activities.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in machining or turbomachinery preferred.Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in industrial or process pump repair including at least 5 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.In-depth understanding of pump design, disassembly, assembly, testing, and alignment principles.Strong working knowledge of precision machining, close-tolerance measurement, and mechanical troubleshooting.Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills across multiple levels of the organization.Proficient in reading blueprints, OEM specifications, and interpreting GD&T.Computer literacy for job tracking, reporting, and documentation.Willingness to work overtime.Physical Demands & Work Environment
