The Patient Care Associate, under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse, provides basic nursing care and implements selected aspects of the patient's nursing plan of care within the limits of his / her on-the-job training and in accordance with the Brooklyn Hospital Center's mission and goals.
- High School Graduate or GED
- Completion of Medical Assistant program HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Completion of an EKG / Phlebotomy training program from accredited institution
- One (1) year patient care experience in a healthcare facility
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and or Certification completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter
- Knowledge of phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring, rapid COVID testing and ability to document results in designated systems
- Ability to perform quality electrocardiogram tests
- Knowledge of the Patient Care Associate role in the care of patients identified with Suicidal Risk / aggression and Trauma risk factors
- Ability to use computers and understanding of computer systems
