Patient Care Associate

The Patient Care Associate, under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse, provides basic nursing care and implements selected aspects of the patient's nursing plan of care within the limits of his / her on-the-job training and in accordance with the Brooklyn Hospital Center's mission and goals.

• High School Graduate or GED
• Completion of Medical Assistant program HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Completion of an EKG / Phlebotomy training program from accredited institution
• One (1) year patient care experience in a healthcare facility
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and or Certification completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter
• Knowledge of phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring, rapid COVID testing and ability to document results in designated systems
• Ability to perform quality electrocardiogram tests
• Knowledge of the Patient Care Associate role in the care of patients identified with Suicidal Risk / aggression and Trauma risk factors
• Ability to use computers and understanding of computer systems
