Description :
PPS is seeking experienced Aluminum Shipfitters for long-term shipyard projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience fabricating and fitting aluminum structures for commercial or military vessels.
Responsibilities :
Lay out and fabricate aluminum components, bulkheads, and structural assemblies.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Fit, align, and tack weld parts according to tolerances and layout marks.
Operate hand tools, measuring instruments, and cutting equipment safely.
Work closely with welders, fitters, and foremen to maintain production quality and schedule.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all shipyard safety requirements.
Requirements :
Minimum 3+ years of aluminum shipfitting experience .
Ability to read and interpret ship drawings and blueprints.
Proficiency using measuring tools, squares, levels, and layout instruments.
Must pass a fit test, and written test .
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and shift work as needed.
Must provide required PPE and have reliable transportation.
Preferred :
Experience with MIG or TIG aluminum welding (not required but a plus).
Prior experience at major shipyards such as Austal, Bollinger, or Ingalls.
OSHA or shipyard safety certifications.
