Facilities-Maintenance Technician

Serves as the Utility Worker IV for Ivy Tech Community College responsible for campus all around maintenance work consisting of moving and relocating furniture installing and removing pictures projector screens and plaques. Troubleshoot repair and perform maintenance on common plumbing issues HVAC issues and assisting all other maintenance technicians when needed. This list is not meant to be all inclusive but is meant to illustrate the diverse base of the job at hand.

Teamwork : Must be able to work alone and work as a team. Efficient operation of the team depends upon the reliability of each member. Any regular or major change in assignment must be discussed with the supervisor. Daytoday alterations may be made to cope with special circumstances at the judgment of the supervisor.

Major Responsibilities :

• Utilize the Colleges work order system to access daily assignments document completed tasks and coordinate room setups.
• Assist with the relocation and storage of furniture and equipment; transport supplies and materials to various sites within the Region using College fleet vehicles.
• Perform installation repairs troubleshooting and maintenance related to furniture moving plumbing systems and support of remodeling or construction projects. This includes the ability to interpret blueprints technical drawings and specifications.
• Conduct plumbing workincluding installation maintenance and repairsfor both existing infrastructure and new construction. Systems include potable and nonpotable water as well as pneumatic lines. A general understanding of the Indiana Plumbing Code is required.
• Provide support during staff shortages caused by vacations illness or during special projects such as renovations and construction.
• Work with plumbing systems specific to office and laboratory environments including piping and pumps.
• Engage in physical tasks involving lifting and manual labor. Follow proper lifting techniques and safety protocols. Repetitive lifting should not exceed 50 pounds without assistance.
