Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Duration : 11 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Position : Registered Nurse - Med / Surg Location : Michigan Holiday / Time Off : Holiday requests are not guaranteed. Dates may be discussed with the manager to determine if the unit can accommodate. Requirements : 1-2 years of recent Med / Surg experience preferred Active Michigan RN license BLS (AHA) - required NIHSS - required (or willingness to complete prior to start) Every other weekend required May be asked to float to other Med / Surg units, ICU units, or ED waiting rooms Details : Nurse-to-patient ratio : 1 : 4 or 1 : 5 Equipment utilized : EPIC, Pyxis About the Unit : The NVU is a 40-bed medical-surgical unit specializing in the care of patients with neurological disorders such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other inflammatory conditions of the brain and spinal cord. The unit also cares for a large post-operative spinal surgery population, including neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients. The unit includes : Six step-down / telemetry beds Six bariatric beds A four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit admitting seizure patients (age 5 and older) for diagnostic evaluation This unit offers a dynamic environment caring for a diverse patient population with both medical and surgical needs.
