Museum Receptionist

Do you have a passion for art, retail, and space history? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as volunteers in the museum gift shop and reception area. As the first point of contact for our visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and engaging experience for guests from around the globe.

In this role, you’ll not only assist visitors with their purchases, helping them find unique space-themed gifts and educational materials, but also serve as an ambassador for the museum. Your warm, friendly demeanor will set the tone for their entire visit, whether you’re greeting them in person or answering the phone.

What You’ll Do:

• Engage with Visitors: Welcome guests with a smile, answer their questions, and provide excellent customer service to enhance their museum experience.
• Sales and Merchandising: Help visitors select the perfect mementos from our curated collection of space-themed merchandise, including books, art, and souvenirs. Your input on merchandising and displays can make our gift shop a vibrant part of the museum experience.
• Be an Ambassador: Share information about the museum's exhibits, educational programs, and special events like our astronomy nights and workshops, encouraging visitors to explore all we have to offer.
• Support Museum Operations: Handle basic computer tasks for sales transactions and visitor inquiries, ensuring smooth daily operations.

What We’re Looking For:

• A love for people and a genuine interest in space history and art.
• Retail or customer service experience is a plus, but a friendly attitude and willingness to learn are the most important.
• Basic computer skills for handling sales and visitor inquiries.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with visitors of all ages.
