We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Ophthalmologic Scribe to contribute to our eye care team. The successful candidate will work directly with ophthalmologists to accurately and promptly document patient encounters in real-time, thereby enabling physicians to focus fully on patient care. This role is essential to maintaining the clinic workflow and ensuring precise medical recordkeeping.

Compensation : $20 - $25 hourly
Responsibilities :
- Educate patients on surgery instructions by providing guidance on medication, addressing any inquiries that may arise, and ensuring patient comprehension
- Assist the physician during exams and office procedures by offering support to patients, providing necessary medications and instruments, and following directions in case of a medical emergency
- Accurately document the ophthalmologist's patient history, exam findings, assessments, and treatment plans during clinical visits
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of the medical record before the provider signs off
- Document procedures and surgeries as dictated by the provider.
- Input relevant data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Maintains an awareness of the patient's verbal and non-verbal communication when the physician is providing instructions, as it may be necessary for the scribe to repeat information, provide written instructions, and / or hand outpatient education materials for the patient to review at home
- Accurately documents amendments to patient charts according to practice protocols
- Maintain the patient flow of the clinic to include confirmation of insurance authorization prior to treatment
- Notify the physician of changes to the daily schedule, especially emergencies
- Facilitates communication between the physician and other staff members, which helps minimize clinic flow disruptions
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Maintain accurate information in the EHR, including communicating with outside physicians, billing / coding, and updating the EHR platforms.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles during travel and support the organization of medication and supplies for satellite offices.
- Manage incoming phone calls and document communications within patient platforms such as NexTech, PressiaOn-Call, or other relevant sources
- Must be willing to train
- Ensure the patient has completed and signed all relevant documents
Qualifications :
Knows the required components of examination for appropriate CPT coding to ensure all elements are accurately completedTraining and understanding of HIPAA requirements and the importance of maintaining confidentialityStrong, professional interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationAbility to multitaskStrong organization with attention to detailComputer literacyAbility to spell accurately while chartingBasic math skillsUnderstanding of medical terminology / ophthalmic terminology with knowledge of anatomy, diseases, and treatments.Ophthalmic technician, and / or medical office experienceScribe certification within 90 days of joining the practiceAbout Company
