As an Engineering Manager , you will lead a multidisciplinary mechanical-design team responsible for developing, optimizing and releasing Anderson's single-screw extrusion machinery and other capital equipment. As a hands on, working Manager, you will shape the engineering strategy, drive project execution from concept through shipment, and foster a culture of technical excellence, compliance and continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities
- Mentor, coach and evaluate a team of mechanical, manufacturing and project engineers.
- Establish clear performance goals, training plans and career pathways.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability and collaboration.
- Maintain and improve engineering policies (ECO, DCR, compliance to customer specs).
- Enforce non-self-check principles and supervisor reviews per Anderson procedures.
- Drive continuous-improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, DFMA).
- Identify emerging technologies and materials to enhance product performance and reduce cost.
- Promote lessons-learned sessions post-project and embed findings into standards.
- Partner with Operations, Procurement, Quality and Service to ensure manufacturability, cost targets and field performance.
- Support Supply Chain with technical specifications for make / buy decisions.
- Interface with IT on engineering systems (PDM, ERP) and data integrity.
- Provide expert guidance on mechanical design standards, FEA and FMEA.
- Approve system architectures, drawings and Bills of Material.
- Ensure designs meet ASME / ANSI and customer specifications.
- Own the engineering project portfolio, balancing scope, schedule, budget and risk.
- Facilitate project hand-off / kick-off with Sales and oversee design reviews, stage-gates and release milestones.
- Report progress and KPIs to Executive Leadership.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline); MBA preferred. In lieu of a formal degree, directly related proven professional experience in mechanical-equipment design and technical leadership may be accepted.Experience in mechanical equipment design with 3+ years leading engineers in a capital-equipment or industrial-machinery environment.Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks / PDM, AutoCAD, and weldments.Experience creating and managing Bills of Material (BOMs).Ability to perform stress–strain analysis, material selection, and specify appropriate heat-treatment processes.Proficient with Excel for engineering calculations and data analysis.Competence in motor sizing calculations and hydraulic calculations.Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly).Strategic thinker, excellent communicator, adept at stakeholder management, and skilled in data-driven decision-making under tight deadlines.Experience
