What You Will Be Doing :

The Machine Technology Specialist exists to provide assistance to customers and the sales staff by supporting the Technology Sales and Product Support business in the areas of product expertise, internal / external technical support, 3D Machine Control training, parts / service / warranty support. The Machine Technology Specialist will work through the Machine Sales Manager to promote 3D Machine Control products and support customer relationships to ensure participation in Technology product sales opportunities and to support current field population with training, parts, service and technical support.

The Technology Specialist will be responsible for learning various levels of machine control and guidance technology, from simple to complex. They will work closely with Caterpillar as well as the SITECH South team to learn and understand technology workflows and customer applications pertaining to site development. Once this skill is obtained The Technology Specialist will support Yancey Bros. General Line Salesmen and SAM’s with technology sales as well as train customers to get full utilization out of their technology investment, including infrastructure, 2D and 3D. The Technology Specialist will be required to train and support customers running integrated Caterpillar Tractors. In addition to integrated Caterpillar and aftermarket SITECH (Trimble) solutions, the Technology Specialist will be tasked with learning other machine control and guidance solutions, such as Topcon and Leica. For these solutions he / she will need to work with the local dealers and schedule training.

The Technology Specialist will be required to maintain up to date information regarding Caterpillar technologies and act as the internal expert in this area.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Assist sales staff with competitive demonstrations, start up on new deliveries and rentals
• Interact with customers in the areas of training, operator training and technical assistance
• Provide sales staff with product updates, new product introductions and demonstration tips
• Provide technical staff / technical services with product updates and introductions
• Ensure technology inventory is updated with latest firmware updates
• Create weekly schedule of activities with the Sales Managers to support the current business needs
• Communicate with Technical Services Manager on a weekly basis to receive and provide technical updates about 3D Technology products
• Communicate market awareness information to Machine Sales Manager
• Respond to customer requests for assistance in technical support via Technical Services, shop requests or direct customer interaction
• Responding to Yancey Service departments for technical support
• Respond to customer requests for product operation training
• Following up on all new 3D Sales deliveries and providing thorough operation, safety and maintenance information to the customer
• Overnight travel is a requirement
• Other duties as assigned and qualified

You should possess a strong sense of urgency and desire to provide superior customer service. The ability to take direction and work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.
