OB TITLE : Direct Support Professional

CLASSIFICATION : Full / Part Time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM / DEPARTMENT : Residential, OPWDD or OMH

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Residential Manager

POSITION SUMMARY : As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you get to enhance quality of life for people with developmental disabilities by assisting, instructing, and supporting individuals living in our residences to be as independent as possible. Promote the health, safety and well-being of the individuals while building positive, meaningful relationships. Advocate for individuals in our residences to communicate their wants / needs, and integrate them into the community for recreation. Perform various tasks to promote a well-rounded environment by doing light housekeeping, helping individuals plan nutritious meals, and administering medications as needed. Participate in regularly scheduled trainings to enhance skills and knowledge to continue to support the individuals in the best way possible.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Minimum Education, Training & Experience :

Ability to perform all job functions

Preferred Education, Training & Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Be a positive role model for people with disabilities and other staff

SALARY :

$16.96 per hour starting rate

In identifying a parent brand, all parties worked together to craft a likeness that honors both the heritage of each agency and their combined mission to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Throughout the brainstorming meetings, one theme prevailed—togetherness. While the process, funding, legislation, and even definition of what it means to serve people with disabilities has changed dramatically over the tenure of our organizations, one thing that has not changed is the commitment to togetherness. Both organizations recognize that, as people, we’re better together—disabilities or not, Olean or Niagara, it doesn’t matter. Togetherness works.
