Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position requiring at least 2 years of recent CVICU experience and advanced critical care skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 12-bed Cardiovascular ICU within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes AMI, CAD, PVD, and fresh open-heart surgery from the ORNurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 based on acuityNight shifts are 12 hours in length with a requirement of two weekend shifts per pay periodRequired to float to ICU, PCU, MS, and Tele units at both campuses as neededUse of Cerner EMR system for documentationUnit utilizes advanced equipment including IABP, CRRT, Impella (preferred), Vents, Bipap, Cpap, Vapotherm, HiFlowDrip titration required for medications such as Dexmedetomidine, Propofol, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Levophed, Insulin, CardeneRNs are responsible for interpreting their own telemetry stripsHoliday and on-call coverage is required according to contract termsPrimary responsibilities include caring for critically ill cardiovascular patients and titrating advanced vasoactive medicationsMust complete unit-specific orientation and pass a sterile technique skills assessment on day oneNavy blue scrubs required for this positionFirst to float status applies to travelersIntensivist support is available 24 / 7No nurse aides on unit, RNs must manage all aspects of patient careRT available 24 / 7, but support is shared across ICU unitsCandidates failing required skills or dysrhythmia tests twice are ineligible for future contracts with CommonSpirit in AZ and Sacramento for 6 monthsRequirements
Active, unencumbered RN license (State or Compact) at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum of 2 years recent CVICU nursing experience requiredProven skills with IABP, CRRT, fresh open-heart surgery patients, and titrating critical care drips requiredAbility to pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam with at least 80% within two attempts required for contract confirmationExperience using Cerner EMR preferredMust provide driver’s license for address verification (candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility)Candidates may not have been directly employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearTwo professional references required : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsBenefits
