PRN

The Music Therapist will be responsible for :

• Demonstrating basic knowledge of the purpose, intent, and function of music therapy for various client populations.
• Demonstrating basic knowledge of philosophical, psychological, physiological, and sociological bases for the use of music as therapy.
• Demonstrating basic knowledge of the use of current technologies in music therapy assessment, treatment, and evaluation.
• Helping patients to restore and maintain mental health, increase comprehension abilities, improve physical abilities, and enhance overall wellbeing.
• Instructing patients individually or in groups in prescribed instrumental or vocal music and music projective techniques such as guided imagery, progressive relaxation, or awareness of conscious feelings.
• Communicating assessment findings and recommendations in written and verbal forms.
• Observing and accurately recording the client's responses to assessment.
• Selecting and implementing culturally appropriate methods for assessing the client's assets and problems through music.
• Identifying the client's therapeutic needs through analysis and interpretation of assessment data.
• Selecting or creating music therapy experiences and settings that meet the client's needs.
• Formulating goals and objectives for individual and group therapy based on assessment findings.
• Providing preliminary estimates of treatment frequency and duration.
• Offering sensory stimulation that utilizes visual, auditory, or tactile cues.
• Promoting relaxation and stress reduction in music therapy sessions.
• Utilizing therapeutic verbal skills during sessions.
• Sequencing and pacing music experiences according to client needs and situational factors.
• Conducting or facilitating group and individual music therapy using improvisational skills.
• Creating a physical environment conducive to effective therapy, including space, furniture, equipment, and instruments.
• Developing and maintaining a repertoire of music suitable for different ages, cultures, and cognitive levels.
