PCU RN Qualifications

Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), step-down, or acute care setting

BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced clinical environment

Strong clinical assessment, patient monitoring, and critical thinking skills

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions; respond promptly to changes in status

Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by healthcare providers

Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and patient families to ensure optimal outcomes

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and post-discharge instructions
