Job Title : Technical Documentation Coordinator
Position Overview :
We are looking for a highly organized Technical Documentation Coordinator to take ownership of job travelers, manufacturing documentation, and the accurate communication of work instructions to the shop floor. This role ensures every job is properly prepared, documented, and ready for production, supporting efficient workflow through machining, welding, assembly, and final inspection.
You will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to keep job information consistent, up-to-date, and easy for machinists, welders, and all other production staff to follow. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys structured work, technical documentation, and being a key communication link across departments.
Key Responsibilities :
Job Travelers & Process Documentation
- Create, revise, and release job travelers for all work orders.
- Maintain clear, accurate manufacturing routers with correct operation steps and sequences.
- Ensure travelers include all required prints, revision levels, setup notes, tooling information, and QC checkpoints.
- Organize and standardize traveler formats to improve readability for shop floor personnel.
- Control document revisions and ensure outdated documentation is not used.
- Scan and record documents for the Quality Control Department.
Workflow Coordination & Job Preparation
Release jobs to the production facility in priority order.Verify that all required documentation, prints, and supplemental instructions are included.Monitor work-in-progress and help resolve delays.Coordinate handoff of jobs between departments and maintain orderly job packets.Support the production engineers and help identify workflow bottlenecks caused by missing or inaccurate documentation.ERP / MRP Data Management
Enter and maintain routings, cycle times, and operation details in the ERP / MRP system.Audit job packets for accuracy and completeness before releasing them to production.Update ERP / MRP records based on engineering changes, process improvements, or shop feedback.Cross-Department Communication
Work with engineering to ensure job travelers match the intended manufacturing process.Communicate documentation updates to machinists, welders, and production leads.Collaborate with QC to include proper measurement plans, tolerances, and inspection notes.Serve as a point of contact for traveler or documentation questions.Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve clarity, consistency, and efficiency of job travelers.Help implement standardized work instructions and documentation templates.Support Lean or 5S initiatives that simplify shop-floor documentation handling.Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience in manufacturing, production control, drafting, or document coordination.Ability to read technical drawings and understand basic GD&T.Strong organizational and documentation skills.Familiarity with job travelers, routers, or work instructions.Comfortable learning and using ERP / MRP systems.Clear written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications
Background in machining, metal fabrication, or hydraulic cylinder manufacturing.Experience with document control systems.Understanding of manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, welding, and assembly.Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.Pay Range
Entry : $19–$22 / hr
