Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Lab Assistant works under the supervision of the Lab Director and the lab supervisors. He / she processes specimens for the section, performs routine laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance. Assists with ensuring all regulatory lab standards are met through following policies and procedures of the Hospital and accrediting regulatory agencies.

Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required; additional 6 months experience preferred. If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory required or college course work in biological / chemical sciences. Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.

Methodist Hospital Westover Hills opening in November 2024 will be located conveniently near Highway 151 and Loop 1604 corridor. This will be a full service, acute care hospital bringing an elevated level of care to the rapidly growing area of San Antonio and its neighboring communities to the West.
