Geotechnical Engineer

Location : Nashville, TN

Salary : $75,000 - $95,000 per year

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical engineering and guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector, including roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment.
• Perform basic professional geotechnical engineering work related to research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
• Lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, and design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and writing, preparation, and review of related reports.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics, investigating subsurface and geological conditions to design and build foundations, earth structures, and pavement sub-grades.
• Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.
• Develop work plans and coordinate field and laboratory testing.
• Provide support services during construction, including submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and contract document clarifications.
