Lee Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) - Physician Fellow (PGY-4)
Lee Health GME offers an exciting fellowship opportunity for a PGY-4 Physician Fellow focused on care for Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (IDD). This one-year training program aims to develop expertise in providing age and specialty-appropriate medical care, including assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
The fellow will serve as a clinician, teacher, leader, and professional, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and patient-centered care for this vulnerable population. They will monitor quality care through customer service and performance improvement initiatives, aiming for positive patient outcomes. Opportunities to develop leadership skills within the residency program and across Lee Health are also provided.
The ideal candidate is passionate about caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities, capable of leading multidisciplinary teams, and possesses excellent communication skills with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Compassion, safety, and quality are emphasized in the delivery of care, with the fellow leading efforts to recognize and prevent adverse events. They will participate in the integrated continuum of care within Lee Health / LPG.
During the fellowship, the fellow will supervise family medicine residents in the GME Clinic, Lee Memorial Hospital FSU inpatient service, and pediatric / adult developmental clinics. Collaboration with developmental pediatrics and other clinical partners will be integral to their role as clinician, teacher, and leader.
Post-fellowship, there may be opportunities for continued employment within Lee Health and GME in a full-time position for the right candidate.
