Speech-Language Pathologist, Indianapolis, IN

Summary : Position Summary :

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide essential language services to deaf and hard of hearing students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering IEP-mandated related services, focusing on individual language goals and the development of spoken language skills. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and effective learning environment and possess the basic American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills necessary to connect with and instruct students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, individualized and small-group speech-language therapy to deaf and hard of hearing students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement treatment plans focused on improving expressive and receptive language, speech production, auditory training, and overall communication skills.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, educational audiologists, and families to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to each student's education.
  • Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings to help determine eligibility, develop present levels, and establish measurable annual goals.
  • Monitor and document student progress, preparing regular reports on achievements and challenges for parents and the educational team.
  • Utilize and model basic ASL to support instruction, facilitate understanding, and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Stay current with best practices and evidence-based methodologies in speech-language pathology for the deaf and hard of hearing population.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred; Clinical Fellows (CFY) are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience working with school-aged children, preferably with deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Demonstrated basic proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); formal ASL training or certification is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the IEP process and experience providing services within a school setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
