Who We Are Looking For
Purpose
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) primarily builds key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships, engaging in scientific exchange and medical education across the Eastern U.S. (MA to FL). Responsibilities include establishing collaborations, providing scientific insight, delivering presentations, gathering competitive intelligence and supporting clinical research initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
Scientific Exchange, advice seeking and clinical development support
Build external partnerships with community and academic KOLs; identify scientific needs and trends.
Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education, clinical research and publications.
Cultivate existing and new collaborative KOL relationships for advisory boards, investigator‑initiated research and speaker development.
Provide field insights to the organization and supply medical support at key institutions.
Represent Chiesi Global Rare Disease Medical Affairs at national and regional scientific meetings.
Deliver high‑caliber medical education presentations.
Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence and participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups.
Partner with business partners to optimise customer experience.
Therapeutic Support, Internal Collaboration and Project Work
Lead and support internal medical projects aligned to development plans.
Support cross‑functional projects and streamline medical input.
Contribute to clinical research, medical education materials and internal training.
Participate in monthly medical meetings and support new team members through mentoring.
Administrative Work
Accurately document field activities, expense reporting and administrative reports.
Complete required training on time and in full.
Maintain high‑level expertise and professional licensing / certifications.
Experience Required
Post‑graduate residency with 3‑5 years MSL experience in a relevant therapeutic area (exception for PhD candidates).
Ability to build and leverage strategic relationships.
Strong teamwork, prioritisation and execution under minimal supervision.
High self‑awareness, growth mindset and flexibility in challenging situations.
Scientific and clinical expertise, including exceptional knowledge of pharmacoeconomics and real‑world evidence.
Exceptional written and verbal communication; articulate presentations; active listening; diplomatic yet evidence‑based.
Education
Graduate‑level degree (PharmD, MD, DO, DNP, PhD, MSN, MS or equivalent healthcare professional degree) and relevant clinical experience.
Compensation
The annual base pay ranges from $161,280 to $197,120, varying by location, skills and experience. Overtime and other discretionary compensation may apply.
