Wage : $19.94 / hour

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :

This position collects and sorts recyclables from curbside bins placed out by citizens in Vermillion, SD. Sort through recyclables and separate accordingly.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED / EXERCISED :

This position reports to and works under the direction of the Solid Waste Director, and Recycling Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

• Operates equipment (3 / 4 ton pick up, hydraulic trailer, bobcat, forklift, etc.) for the purpose of collection and processing recyclable materials.
• Drives to residential homes to collect curbside recycling materials and sorts materials collected.
• Operates curbside recycling on road equipment, recycling trailer and other recycling equipment.
• Maintains and cleans recycling truck daily.
• Unloads collected material into appropriate containers or areas at the Missouri Valley Recycling center.
• Maintains daily operation log as directed.
• Assists in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Provides general and specific facility and grounds maintenance.
• Provides assistance and education about recycling to the public.
• Ensures the proper and safe operation of all collection equipment.
• Sorting recyclable materials placed in curbside bins.
• Other related duties as assigned.
