Job description : Mission of Mercy is looking for a Full-time LVN / LPN who is looking for a place where they can make a difference. Mission of Mercy's is a non profit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to restore dignity, "Healing through Love," by providing free medical care to people who are uninsured in South Texas.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION : The LVN / LPN plays a vital role in ensuring compassionate, quality care for Mission of Mercy patients. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, Physicians, and Nurse Practitioners, the LVN / LPN supports clinical operations and assists in the coordination of patient care across the continuum—from assessment and treatment to education and follow-up.
Full time position is 40 hours with benefits.
Salary : $26 per hour
Medical Center is open Monday thru Friday 7 : 30 am - 4 : 30 pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Deliver patient-centered care under the direction of the Medical Director, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical leadership.
- Conduct patient assessments including gathering medical history, checking vital signs, and documenting the reason for visit prior to provider evaluation.
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits and assist medical providers throughout exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Accurately document patient encounters, provider notes, referrals, orders, and follow-up instructions in the electronic health record system.
- Provide clear communication and education to patients regarding medications, care instructions, and health maintenance.
- Manage and prioritize incoming calls, messages, and patient concerns to ensure prompt and appropriate follow-up.
- Participate in coordinating patient care and assisting with case management needs to promote continuity across visits.
- Maintain clinic safety, cleanliness, and infection control in accordance with Mission of Mercy policies and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and empathy while interacting with patients, families, volunteers, and staff.
- Support clinic operations including scheduling, medical record management, and preparation for daily patient flow.
- Assist with community health initiatives such as flu shot clinics, health fairs, and outreach events.
- Contribute ideas and feedback to improve clinic processes and patient experience.
- Help coordinate and support volunteer medical staff as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to advance the mission of providing free, high-quality healthcare to the uninsured.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
LVN / LPN with a current license to practice in Texas.Wound care experience a plusMinimum of 2 years' work experience in direct patient care as a Licensed Vocational NurseGood oral and written communication skills.Bilingual (English / Spanish)Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Organized, high energy, team player with a great attitude.Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (Athenahealth or similar preferred)BENEFITS
