The Community Services Director is seeking a responsible individual to perform a variety of responsible technical and analytical duties for the Water Treatment Facility. This position is responsible for conducting all water quality testing, analysis, and reporting to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Work is conducted in a laboratory setting with a focus on accuracy, precision, and adherence to established protocols.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position. $26.26 to $38.03 per hour. Excellent benefit offerings! Position is open until filled.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class) :
a. Performs routine and special sampling (PFAS, MTBE, 1,4-D, UCMR5).
b. Assists other departments with bacteria or special sampling as needed.
a. Monitors NHDES One-Stop and master sampling schedule for requirement changes.
b. Tracks sample bottle inventory and coordinates reorders with labs.
a. Submits monthly inventory reports to the Chief Operator / Supervisor.
a. Communicates procedural changes to operators.
b. Stays current on laboratory methods and safety practices.
May be required to repair various WTP issues off hours
a. Develops SOPs for common water quality concerns.
b. Tracks water quality issues using the Vue-Works layer.
Develops / assists in creation of database tracking program monitoring water quality results.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS : Thorough knowledge of water quality testing procedures and protocols, including physical, chemical, and microbiological analysis. Strong understanding of Federal and State drinking water regulations. Proficiency in the use and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment. Ability to maintain meticulous and accurate records and reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with staff and regulatory agencies. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : High school diploma or equivalent and at least 12 semester units in chemistry or related field at a college or university required ; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a related field is preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in water quality analysis, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Grade I Water Works Operator Certification is required within the first 6 months of hire.
