This position is responsible for safely assisting the driller with geotechnical drilling operations at designated locations in support of client projects across the state. The ability to perform light to moderate maintenance on WSB drill rigs, as needed, is also an integral part of this position. The goal is to ensure the drilling projects are completed safely and efficiently, and that our rigs remain operational and available to support our clients. On-the-job training is provided, and should be expected, to be successful in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Follow directions and assist our Driller to ensure safe completion of drilling projects.
  • Ensure necessary equipment is loaded and secure.
  • Meet the driller at the Centennial, CO office in the early mornings and mobilize to sites.
  • Assist with setting up rig on boring locations identified by client.
  • Assist the Driller with operations by transporting auger and sampling equipment from the drill rig to the boring location and returning them when the completed.
  • Backfill borings as requested by client.
  • Break-down and store equipment for move to next location.
  • At the end of the day, ensure all equipment is accounted for, reasonably clean, and secured on the drill rig.
  • Assist and perform necessary light to moderate drill rig maintenance.
  • Be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds throughout the day.
  • Periodic overnight travel and overtime may be required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Ability to perform light to moderate drill rig maintenance as needed.
  • Desired Education, Experience and Certifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Previous drilling experience / familiarity with heavy equipment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a Colorado CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), or desire to obtain one, have experience working around heavy construction equipment, and / or with geotechnical drilling operations in Colorado.
