Job descriptionUnderstand and translate business needs into system requirements. Investigate data to understand and document issues / enhancements. Work with various software development teams to drive implementation of innovative software solutions. Drive cross functional teams and challenge the status quo. Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets. Utilize verification and validation techniques to ensure software deliverables are high quality and meet customer needs. Provide IT SME support toward highly visible or critical production issues. Materials / Procurement - managing integrations between design and execution tools for part data Change Management - supporting engineering change processes for both Virginia and Columbia programs Configuration Management - supporting keeping legacy and new systems in sync with one another Manufacturing Planning - leading efforts to improve Bill of Process (BOP) projects Electrical - supporting several custom software applications for electrical engineers and designers Finance - supporting timekeeping and finance reporting Reporting - working alongside data architects and DBAs to expose data tables for business reporting Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, MIS (Management Information Systems), Engineering, or Applied Mathematics 5+ years of total related work experience in IT Knowledge of verification and validation techniques. 3+ years of experience in requirements gathering and documentation Experience with Agile development concepts Software development life cycle Experience in writing SQL queries to interrogate intricate details of large datasets Experience in creating and reviewing documentation, including operating procedures, training documents, and troubleshooting guides, for shop floor personnel or quality assurance inspectors A forward thinking mindset to proactively identify opportunities to streamlines processes, improve data integrity and enhance system performance Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and drive projects to successful completion Experience transferring data between different companies Experience working with vendors as part of the Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Systems Monitoring - supporting daily checks of critical system integrations Be willing to learn / open-minded. Be self-motivated and ambitious. Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Have critical thinking and problem solving skills. Have good attention to detail. Have strong oral and written skills. Be organized, with good planning skills. Have project management skills.

Overview
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world's foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to join the organization within the Information Technology (EBIT) Department. The current business needs and demands are ever rapidly changing and require an agile, flexible, analytical candidate to join EBIT.
Position Summary :
In the IT Systems Engineer position, you will be expected to ask questions, communicate openly, and get out of your seat and comfort zone. While this is NOT a Software Development role, the successful candidate will possess the technical aptitude required to work closely with Software Developers
The responsibilities of the IT Systems Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following :
