The Impact You Will Have in This Role
The Development family is responsible for creating, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions. May include research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities related to software products used internally or externally on product platforms supported by the firm. The software development process requires in-depth subject matter expertise in existing and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages. Software Developers work closely with business partners and / or external clients in defining requirements and implementing solutions. The Software Engineering role specializes in planning, documenting technical requirements, designing, developing, and testing all software systems and applications for the firm. Works closely with architects, product managers, project management, and end-users in the development and enhancement of existing software systems and applications, proposing and recommending solutions that solve complex business problems
Your Primary Responsibilities :
Design, build, and optimize scalable, high‑performance data pipelines and processing workflows.Develop and enhance complex Oracle PL / SQL code including queries, packages, procedures, and performance tuning.Use Java to build or maintain data transformation services and backend processing components.Use Java to perform data transformation logic and build API for downstream consumptionInterpret, analyze, and process large datasets from multiple data sources.Lead end‑to‑end data engineering initiatives, ensuring solutions meet performance, reliability, and scalability expectations.Collaborate with architects, analysts, product teams, and developers to understand requirements and deliver quality data solutions.Modernize existing ETL workloads into cloud‑ready or cloud‑native architectures.Support data quality, reconciliation, validation, and error‑handling processes.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, patterns, and standards.Partner with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot data issues and identify long‑term solutionsQualifications
6-8 years of experience delivering complex technology products or platforms.Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent practical experience.Talent Needed for Success
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle PL / SQL, including advanced query writing and performance tuning.Proficiency in Java, especially for backend data processing and custom transformations.Deep understanding of data engineering concepts—pipelines, transformations, data movement, data validation, and performance optimization.Experience with ETL concepts and tools (Informatica acceptable) with an emphasis on conceptual design rather than tool‑specific execution.Experience with or exposure to AWS cloud services used in data engineering (S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, RDS, EC2, etc.).Strong SQL debugging, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.Experience working with large datasets in enterprise environments.Preferred Skills
Understanding of data modeling and schema design (not required but beneficial).Experience with data integration patterns, orchestration, and workflow management.Exposure to CI / CD, Git, automated deployment pipelines, and DevOps practices.Experience migrating ETL workloads to cloud‑based or modern data engineering platforms.Leadership & Collaboration
Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and guide a data engineering team.Strong communication skills for collaborating across engineering, QA, architecture, and business teams.Ability to conduct code reviews, provide technical direction, and ensure high‑quality deliverables.The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations. Actual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.
