Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Position is in a hospital Emergency Department with 71 beds including critical care, acute, Fast Track, behavioral health, pediatric ED, and observation roomsNurse-to-patient ratios : critical care 1 : 2 or 1 : 3, Fast Track 1 : 7, acute and Dpod 1 : 4 or 1 : 5Care provided for a broad range of patient populations including adults, pediatric, trauma, and psychiatric casesProcedures include triage (ESI), hemodynamic monitoring, airway management, dysrhythmia recognition, medication administration, IV starts, venipuncture, blood administration, and procedural sedationUtilizes Cerner (FirstNet) for charting, Accudose for medication dispensing, Phillips monitors and EKG, ISTATS, Accucheck, and chest tube drainsRegular schedule includes 36 hours per week with required coverage every other weekend, 2 or 3 major holidays, and one 24-hour call shift every 4 weeksShifts available : 7p-7a, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7a-7pPossible float to ED behavioral health, pediatric ED, and ED observationResponsibilities include triage, emergency interventions, procedural sedation, and managing code situations including code blue, code stroke, code STEMI, trauma, and sepsisCompletion of a one-week, preceptor-based ED orientation with competency checklist and computer-based training modules requiredMust adhere to ED and EDOU protocols, pathways, and policies and be able to independently manage a variety of complex casesOccasional coverage for pediatric and behavioral health ED areas may be required depending on staffing needsDress code requires branded navy blue Cherokee scrubs purchased from the on-campus storeHoliday and call coverage are mandatory parts of the roleRequirements
Active GA or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; TNCC preferredMinimum of 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience requiredExperience with Cerner (FirstNet) charting system preferredAbility to perform high-acuity nursing tasks and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environmentBenefits
