Human Resources Manager @ National Cement Co | Employee Relations
Summary :
The Electrical Manager oversees all electrical systems, infrastructure, and personnel at the cement manufacturing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical equipment and systems across the plant. The manager leads a team of unionized electricians and non-union supervisors, coordinates maintenance and capital projects, and supports strategic planning for electrical reliability and upgrades. Must read and thoroughly understand the union CBA.
Essential Functions :
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and mentor a team of 8–10 electricians and 3-4 electrical supervisors.
- Delegate tasks, assign work orders, and inspect completed work for quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with Automation to ensure efficacy of all electronic components.
- Conduct regular team meetings and safety briefings.
- Collaborate interdepartmentally to ensure proper cohesion of departments and continued viability of the plant.
- Coaches employees and supervisors when necessary to improve productivity or teach a new skill.
Technical Oversight
Develop and maintain electrical schematics, drawings, and procedure manuals.Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including motors, drives, control panels, and distribution systems.Assist with complex troubleshooting and emergency repairs (Project & Budget Management
Coordinate electrical aspects of plant projects, including upgrades and expansions.Support budget planning and cost control for the electrical department.Ensure timely procurement of electrical components and tools.Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to MSHA, OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards.Maintain documentation for inspections, permits, and compliance audits.Enforce use of PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators as needed.Use digital tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CMMS, PLC software) for planning and monitoring.Communicate via email, phone, and in-person meetings with internal teams and external vendors.Document work orders, maintenance logs, and technical reports.Wage and Hour Compliance
Ensure all employees' times and work are accounted for.Must utilize ADP to input hours worked, absences, tardies, and various pay codes.Delegates wage and hour entry to supervisors if / when necessary but must ensure all hours are accurate before payroll is processed.Qualifications :
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial electrical systems, preferably in cement or heavy manufacturing.Proven leadership experience in managing technical teams.Strong knowledge of AC / DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial control systems.Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.Familiarity with CMMS and digital maintenance platforms.Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.Physical Demands :
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments with exposure to dust, noise, and heat.Frequent walking, climbing ladders / stairs, kneeling, and lifting up to 150 lbs.Operate forklifts, service trucks, and use hand / power tools as needed.Tools & Equipment Used
