Job Overview :

  • The Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) helps children develop skills to overcome physical or cognitive challenges and participate in daily activities.  Duties and Responsibilities : Assessment : Evaluate client’s physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities and limitations to determine their therapy needs  Develop treatment plans : Creating a plan with goals, interventions, and timelines  Provide therapy : Work with children one-on-one, in the clinic or their school,  to help them perform everyday tasks and reach their goals.  Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL).

    • Educate :

  • Teach the child, their family, and caregivers how to use adaptive equipment and strategies to support the child's therapy goals  Collaboration : Work with other healthcare providers, such as physicians, speech therapists, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care  Monitor progress : Tracking the child's progress to ensure they are meeting their goals and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Observe, note and report on the progress of long-term and short-term treatment goals.

    • Documentation :

  • Collect data and document processes followed.  Submit paperwork to the agency within established deadlines.

    • Skills and Qualifications :

  • NYS Occupational Therapy (OT) license Masters Degree Required Previous experience working with children with a range of maladies, including but not limited to : physical, mental, developmental, emotional or sensory challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
