VP Of Logistics
The VP of Logistics will have a mandate to build the people and organizational capabilities to deliver business results and sustain high performance within VASCOR. Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, she / he will lead a team of subject matter experts on operational excellence, services and management. The VP will provide direction to the business, leading it to superior levels of performance measured by higher resource utilization, lower operating costs, improved operating margins and enhanced processes and procedures. The VP will provide dynamic leadership to the organization and inject new ideas and creative approaches to the business. She / he will be a proven change agent who will build on VASCOR's impressive track record, making the organization nimbler and more innovative to all aspects of its business. This role will guide implementation and delivery of transportation and brokerage services in the U.S. This leader will be responsible for providing the tools, thought leadership and actions that will enable VASCOR to reach its full potential.
Bachelor's degree required and Master's preferred in Business or related industry
Establish immediate credibility and respect with the CEO and the organization at large. The VP will be welcomed by the organization but will need to quickly establish and prove that she / he belongs and will add value to the organization.
Build competitive advantage through product and service superiority. The VP will provide creative solutions and innovative thinking to the organization in executing and measuring tactical execution and business processes to meet / exceed the needs of the customers and business goals.
Provide inspired leadership and professional management to the organization. Be seen as a leader who motivates and inspires employees at all levels, furthering the VASCOR culture that "thinks and wins" as a team and works together for shared success. Build team and organizational capability through strong performance management, effective strategic recruiting and talent management, and succession planning.
Become personally involved and lead with the customer base and build strong, trust-based relationships with the main decision makers in those organizations.
Play a significant role in mergers and acquisitions and integration of high-target acquisitions.
Ensure that operational activities are executed within allotted budget and timelines.
Perform budget allocations and expense management for all business operational activities.
Set operational goals to meet / exceed performance expectations.
Provide excellent customer service in order to build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
Ensure customer complaints are handled and resolved accurately and quickly.
Develop and implement plans to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Oversee, direct and organize the work of the transportation operations team
Provide guidance to staff in resolving operational issues, updates, ideas and problems.
Promote the VASCOR culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
Ensure VASCOR associates receive timely and appropriate training and development.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach : assign accountabilities, set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results. Conduct annual performance appraisals and administer salary adjustments.
Champion the operational support of the VASCOR brokerage business.
Lead the service enhancement, retention and growth of the VASCOR dedicated transportation business.
Update and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, standards and procedures in alignment with ISO standards
Plan, coordinate and execute the annual budget process
Ensure that VASCOR is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status updates to the CEO
Ideally, experience as a senior operating officer over a best-in-class contract logistics business of some scale
Deep and proven operating experience in a U.S. 3PL with a large and complex transportation network
An operating executive with strong financial and operating skills. The ability to develop and utilize data and metrics that identify economic and financial impact to influence business decisions and outcomes.
Experience at the senior leadership level dealing with strategy yet maintains a "hands on" style and is capable of rolling up his / her sleeves and digging into the weeds as required.
Experience with fast changing environments and situations in which success is driven by cutting-edge thinking and results.
A proven track record of leadership in progressive assignments and success in building and leading teams in developing a best-in-class organization. A transformational leader.
A tested background of having successfully worked in the design and implementation of value-added and customer-driven processes. Experience managing complex networks where success is a result of pulling together various components and groups in a unified direction, empowering people to perform and exceed expectations.
