BlueWater Health is seeking an experienced Emergency Physician with demonstrated leadership experience to support the continued growth and development of the Houlton Regional Hospital'sEmergency Department.

EMERGENCY SERVICES MEDICAL DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a part of the Hospitals leadership team, the Medical Director for Emergency Services collaborates with Hospital Administration to set the vision and determine strategy to meet organizational priorities for delivering high quality, cost-effective Emergency Medicine services.

The Medical Director demonstrates effective leadership and management skills in support of the mission, vision, and culture of the health center, including :

Building a strong team of collaborative providers who individually also participate in setting and achieving department goals.

Developing a collaborative practice and team approach both within the department and with other health center departments

Communicating effectively with the team, inspiring positive, solution-focused approaches to improving the care and services provided.

About the Hospital :

Houlton Regional Hospital (HRH) is a 25-bed critical access acute care facility located in Southern Aroostook County that was just presented with the Leapfrog organization's Top Rural Hospital award for the second year in a row. HRH was the only rural hospital in Maine to be given this award for 2022.

Our hospital serves the needs of approximately 17,000 people in a wide geographic area, bordered by New Brunswick, Canada to the East. Its catchment area includes a significant geriatric population.

The ED sees about 11,500 patients per year; 25-35 patient a day and is staffed with single 24-hour physician coverage with additional overnight APP coverage.

There is a small increase in volume in the summer months with many vacationers enjoying various outdoor activities our great state has to offer.

There is plenty of opportunity to maintain skill and competency, as we often manage critically ill patients awaiting transfer to tertiary care centers.

The Houlton Physician Practices includeFamily Practice, Pain Management, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Urology, Podiatry and General SurgeryServices, as well as specialty services in our Outpatient Clinics.

Mount Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine and the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail is located just south of Houlton.
