Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : ASAP Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med / Surg RN for night shifts on an infectious disease-focused unit, requiring travel experience and a WV or compact RN license. Responsibilities Work in an 18-bed Medical-Surgical / Infectious Disease unit within an acute care hospital Patient population includes infectious disease, isolation, COVID, MRSA, C-Diff, and related conditions Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6, or 1 : 4 with COVID patients 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required Travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs and may be required to float to other Med / Surg units Remote telemetry monitoring on the unit; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips Uses Epic EMR, with a one-day Epic orientation provided Block scheduling permitted as long as unit needs are met Unit has 24 / 7 charge nurse coverage and 2 CNAs per shift No cardiac drips required; Heparin and typical Med / Surg IV medications are common No ventilators; patients may require CPAP, BiPAP, or high flow managed by RT One day of unit orientation with a preceptor after Epic training, then independent practice Floating is required, with travelers being first to float; Telemetry assignments are within the RN's skill set Royal blue scrubs are required; only scrub jackets permitted, no hoodies or sweatshirts Travelers may be required to cover holidays based on unit staffing needs No local travelers permitted; must live outside a 50-mile radius Former WVU Medicine employees must have a 2-year break in service before returning as a traveler, and may not work at WVU facilities for more than one year consecutively Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Current BLS (AHA) certification required Minimum of 2 years of Med / Surg RN experience required Med / Surg travel nursing experience required Strong knowledge of infectious disease care and isolation precautions Must submit an unexpired copy of driver's license for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-634323.
