Job Title Licensed Student Counselor
Nature of Work Provides professional counseling to students on academic and personal matters. Provides individual and group therapy and counseling. Responsible for vocational testing and assessment, program development and evaluation and outreach activities. Consults with academic departments and student affairs departments. May be involved in crisis prevention, or aiding with adjustment problems after a major life event. Mantains confidential records.
Examples of Work Performed Direct clinical services - 65%
- Conduct initial consultations and triage assessments, including walk-in sessions
- Provide diagnosis and treatment recommendations
- Provide referrals and resources
- Provide brief individual, couples, and group counseling
- Provide supervision for clinicians seeking licensure, if qualified
- Provide after-hours/on call services on rotation with other counseling staff
Clinical support responsibilities - 20%
- Complete accurate and timely documentation
- Participate in internal clinical consultation
- Participate in staff meetings
- Complete other duties as assigned
Provide prevention and outreach services - 10%
- Provide outreach, psychoeducation, and consultation to the campus community
- May require work after 5 p.m.
Engage in continual professional development - 5%
- Complete continuing education to maintain licensure
- Engage in activities for continual professional development
Required Qualifications • Master's degree.
• Mental health practitioner's license in Nebraska.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a college counseling setting is preferred.
• Strong counseling skills and the ability to work cooperatively with the Counseling Center team and knowledge of a variety of computer programs.
Physical DemandsLicense and Certification Requirements Mental health practitioner's license in Nebraska is required.

Salary Information Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive benefit package. Annual salary range is $49,462 - $61,827 (.900 FTE)
