The Role :

The Manager, Business and Legal Affairs, you will be responsible for legal support across a variety of unscripted production legal matters, with an emphasis on diligence and participant vetting for all FMNA entities and subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Review, track and report on background applications, casting applications, background reports, court documents and other production-related participant documents for individuals and entities, as applicable
  • Communicate with participants and report and resolve issues related to participants including, but not limited to, exclusivity issues, eligibility issues, contractual issues, and background results
  • Regularly communicate with all production stakeholders and external clients with respect to outstanding or pending issues, including diligence matters and other production legal matters.
  • Assist with negotiating and drafting production related agreements, including location agreements, material license agreements, appearance releases, and vendor agreements
  • Update production-related agreements when needed.
  • Assist with drafting and revising program rules, guidelines, and other participant documents.
  • Assist with negotiating and drafting talent agreements, producer agreements, rights agreements, and other agreements in connection with the development and production of unscripted television programming
  • Review programs for legal issues, track production responses to legal notes, and communicate potential issues with the program’s point production attorney and production stakeholders as needed.
  • Track program restrictions
  • Assist with collecting necessary information for visas and minor permits and communicate updates with production stakeholders and other applicable parties
  • Assist with other general business and legal affairs matters as needed

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree with membership in good standing in at least one state bar
  • Superior legal drafting skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time, with exceptional organizational skills and a facility with handling a constant stream of high-priority projects
  • Ability to excel under pressure in a demanding, fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
