Responsibilities

• Directing to create innovative curriculum and lead a nationally recognized MFA program.
• Sustain a trajectory of creative achievement / research consistent with the expectations of a flagship research university.
• Maintain a strong level of professional engagement in directing for live entertainment at a national and / or international level.
• Teach courses in directing and acting for both undergraduate and graduate students, and teach in other theatre performance areas as qualified.
• Lead the MFA Directing Program as Head; typical teaching load is 3 / 3, including directing departmental productions.
• Mentor students, assist in student recruitment, supervise graduate teaching assistants, and mentor graduate thesis and undergraduate capstone projects.
• Serve on departmental and university committees; contribute to curriculum development for contemporary directing and performance practice.
• Develop and maintain a creative / scholarly profile aligned with tenure and promotion expectations at a tier-one research university.
