Bookkeeper Construction & Real Estate
Location: Fair Lawn, NJ
Salary: $65,000 $85,000 (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, on-site
PrideStaff Financial is currently working with a well-established construction and real estate development firm specializing in new construction, renovations, and additions for residential and commercial buildings. Their team manages multiple active entities and job sites, providing high-quality results across North Jersey.
Position Overview
The Bookkeeper will play a key role in the daily financial operations across multiple companies and construction projects. This position requires strong experience in construction or real estate accounting and the ability to manage detailed project-based financials. Ideal candidates are proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Perform credit card and bank reconciliations for multiple entities
- Prepare and review closing statements and sales transactions
- Process loans, purchasing activities, and vendor payments
- Create, send, and track invoices across multiple ongoing projects
- Maintain job cost tracking and allocate expenses to appropriate projects
- Assist with W-9 collection and 1099 preparation
- Monitor subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and insurance compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial reports, budget updates, and project summaries for management
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and internal teams for financial accuracy
- Maintain organized records for each company/job, including contracts, purchase orders, and project billing
- Assist with payroll processing
Qualifications
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience within construction and/or real estate
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience managing financials for multiple entities or projects
- Strong understanding of job costing, progress billing, and construction documentation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
