Role Summary / Purpose
The Vice President, Solution Architect is a hands‑on system design and architecture leader who ensures time‑sensitive projects are completed on schedule and to specification. Success requires deep expertise in solution architecture using Mobile Native UI, Native SDKs, APIs, and WebViews for iOS and Android apps, and the ability to influence and lead multiple teams.

Essential Responsibilities
Influence many agile development teams throughout the Agile life cycle in accordance with the Scaled Agile Framework.Implement new technologies and support developers migrating to them.Architect iOS, Android applications and mobile SDKs within a microservices ecosystem comprising RESTful APIs, API Gateway and Spring Framework.Design data models to support complex business processes.Drive CI / CD strategy using Bitrise, Bitbucket, CloudBees, Jenkins, and uDeploy.Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony.Lead Agile sprints as technical expert, including sprint planning, backlog grooming and sprint reviews.Maintain code quality through development, testing and delivery.Define and enforce non‑functional requirements (performance, security, reliability, scalability, usability, maintainability, portability).Conduct root‑cause analysis, incident reporting and provide direction in problem resolution.Provide 24x7 on‑call escalation support throughout the year.Identify and implement ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance.Collaborate with third‑party vendors to develop software or integrate their solutions.Coach and mentor engineering leads.Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience; or high school diploma / GED with 10 years of experience.Minimum 6 years of application development experience.Mobile native application development background for iOS and Android platforms.Critical thinking, creativity and problem‑solving skills.Strong communication skills; able to articulate complex topics to business and client stakeholders.Flexibility to travel for business as required.Desired Characteristics
Experience with APIs and AWS cloud infrastructure.Expertise with continuous integration environments.Knowledge of New Relic and Splunk for production support.Familiarity with JSON, REST and GraphQL services.Excellent technical communication with technical and non‑technical peers.Strong cross‑functional teamwork.Desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.Experience developing and supporting financial / banking applications.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and analytical skills.Swift structured problem‑solving using tools to troubleshoot systems and identify root causes.Grade / Level
Grade 12 – Salary range : 135,000.00 - 230,000.00 USD annually, with potential for an annual bonus based on performance.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be 18 years or older.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.Must be willing to undergo a drug test, background investigation, and fingerprinting as part of onboarding.Must satisfy Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.New hires (Level 4‑7) must have 9 months of continuous service before posting on other roles; subsequent posting timelines apply as specified.Internal employees must meet performance expectations and receive managerial approval to post.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
