Job Description & Requirements Specialty : PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 20 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) position requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least two years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience. Responsibilities Position is in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit with a mix of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses Patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 depending on acuity Care includes cardiac surgery, VADs, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO, CRRT, and other complex cardiac supportive therapies All beds are monitored and the unit serves as a major referral center for pediatric cardiac surgery Works three 12-hour rotating shifts (7a-7 : 30p & 7p-7 : 30a), including four weekend shifts each four-week schedule and holiday rotation No on-call required; floating may be required based on facility needs Utilizes Epic EMR; prior Epic experience is not required Responsibilities include managing post-surgical and medical pediatric cardiac patients, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support and advanced therapies Unit staff includes RNs, patient care techs, unit secretaries, and access to ancillary specialists such as respiratory therapists, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacists First-time travelers are accepted for this position Locals within a 60-mile radius are accepted at a local rate Block scheduling may be considered at the manager's discretion Holiday coverage is required and all requested time off must be submitted up front Previous new staff or PRNs must be separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler Non-billable onboarding modules must be completed pre-start Assignment in a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet Hospital Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit Unit has achieved a Beacon Award and has been ranked highly in national reports Requirements Active SC or compact RN license required Minimum of two years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience required Experience with pediatric cardiovascular and cardiac ICU populations required VAD experience is highly preferred BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required; ACLS preferred Candidates must not have worked as perm staff or PRN in the health system within the past year Must provide all requested documentation for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-612796.
